On October 13 & 14, 2012, we will be having Phase 1 of the Laverne Krei Memorial Scholarship auditions in conjuction with the "Hooked on Dance" Workshop at Hawkins School of Performing Arts at 118 Woodmere Road, Folsom 95630.
LaVerne Krei, who was loved and respected by many students, dancers, and teachers in the Sacramento Area, had always dreamed of developing such a Scholarship Fund when she formed our SADA Organization many years ago. This fund has helped several dancers further their career with over $4,000 in scholarships awarded each year.
In addition to the scholarships mentioned above, there will be a "TEACHER'S CHOICE" award and multiple Special Ribbon Awards for students the Teachers chose. NEW this year... all students who stay and perform at the Showcase at the end of the day will receive a "Hooked on Dance" participation ribbon!
All applicants must be enrolled for the SADA "Hooked on Dance" Workshop in order to audition. During this workshop, judges will select dancers to continue on to the next phase of the scholarship process. Everyone over the age of 12 who would like to further their dance education and have had at least two years of dance training is invited to audition for the Scholarship. To guarantee a spot in the audition, please mail your "Hooked on Dance" registration form and the payment for the workshop payable to SADA .
Those selected in Phase 1 will receive a letter of acceptance asking them to move on to Phase 2. This will include individual solo performance and interview on December 2, 2012. The location will be included with the acceptance letter.
